This Plein air painting was started during the peak of sunflower season at a local farm in Pennsylvania called Terra Farms. Their tagline is grown, not flown, so that became my title. The setting sun backlit the petals to make their edges even more vibrant. I noticed so many colors! Direct observational painting is essential to seeing color shifts that can not be captured in a photograph.
